Bactifeed was designed about 20 years ago, specifically with farming in mind. The farmers that funded the developer asked if he could make a product that was effective, affordable, and easy to use. Through a lot of research and effort, Bactifeed was born. It is designed to work with any crop, because it works the soil.
Bactifeed is a dry powder blend of a healthy variety of bacteria, fungi, and nutrients. While in a dry state, the microbes remain dormant, this allows them to survive long periods of time with out food. When you mix this powder with water, after about 6 hours the bacteria activate, bringing them to life! They then begin working the nutrients that are in the blend, using them as an energy source to reproduce. They can reproduce as quickly as every 20 minutes! After a few hours, you will have trillions!
It is easily brewed in whatever you have available. Many use 1,550 gallon tanks, others use 300 gallon tanks with a float valve to keep it filled. Find what works best for you.
If you notice algae growing on top of your water, know that that can happen, and is not bad. It just means there's a lot of life in that tank. You can prevent algae from growing by using a black tank or wrapping your tank in silage wrap to reduce UV exposure. If you do get algae, be sure to filter it so that it doesn't clog your sprayer.
You then spray however is easiest for you! Inject it through your pivot; drip it into your flood; spray it on as a foliar. If you are spraying it, you may spray it mixed in almost anything else you spray, except for pesticides/insecticides as those may kill the bacteria. Just be sure to brew it separately and mix the Bactifeed with the other product the same day that you are spraying. Do not let them sit in the same tank for more than 24 hours as the bacteria may die off or may end up eating your other product. The sooner after you mix them, the better. You can't over apply it, so be generous with the amount you spray. Ideally we'd like to see 20+ gallons sprayed on per acre, but if you can only manage spraying 5+ gallons per acre, that works too. Try brewing the Bactifeed a day or two longer, you'll end up with a stronger brew!
If you use a sprayer, try to plan it close to an irrigation or rainfall. This will help drive the Bactifeed brew deeper into the soil where they can really get to work. Once in your soil, the bacteria will start eating away at organic matter and nutrients, releasing them in a more readily, and easily absorbable form for roots. This breaking down of organic matter also frees up more space in your soil for air and water to flow in through. One of the most common benefits seen is water penetrating the ground faster and remaining longer. As this happens, you can reduce your watering times and save precious water!
As the bacteria break down the organic matter, they open the soil. This allows more water in, as well as more oxygen and nitrogen! Opening the soil also reduces stress on the plant roots. That means they can grow faster and stronger. Stress can cause your crop to decrease in quality. Reducing that stress may result in better yields as the roots grow stronger and stronger, building resistance to diseases and taking in more nutrients as they work deeper into your soil.
The fungi in Bactifeed attach themselves to the roots of plants and act as an extension of the roots. This allows your plants to draw nutrients from even more sources. They also help to resist disease. In some cases they have even been known to wrap around tiny pests, that are normally harmful to roots, and use them as a nutrient source! These fungi do a lot for your plants and soil, and are not harmful. They use the majority of what they take in for themselves and pass the leftovers on to the plant!
Bactifeed focuses on rebuilding the soil, thus bringing your soil to life! It is not uncommon to see a significant increase in earthworms in the soil. The soil also becomes much looser. Many tubular farmers notice how loose the soil has gotten come harvest time, as they harvest much more smoothly and have less clods. Farmers who graze their fields sometimes notice cows eating their Bactifeed treated areas first. Many farmers begin producing dairy quality hay with-in their first year of use.
Whatever crop you are growing, its growth starts in your soil. Healthy soils means healthy crops.

Bactifeed Spring & Planting - A treatment that focuses on aiding in germination, as well as breaking down organic matter.
Bactifeed Fall/Winter - A treatment that focuses heavily on the breaking down of organic matter.
Bactifeed OST - An OMRI listed version of the Bactifeed ST.
Some states have Bactifeed ST organically listed, just call whoever approves your organic use and ask. If it's not listed, you should be able to use the OST as it is OMRI listed nationally.
